Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Dining Services Cook II at Westwood Medical Pavilion in West, KS. This full-time hospital role prepares nutritious meals for patients and staff on a Monday–Friday schedule, 6:30am–3pm, with no weekends or holidays.

You will follow standard recipes, ensure proper food safety, and support cafeteria and catering production while maintaining quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Some experience as a cook in a restaurant, institutional or large-volume feeding.

Responsibilities

• Completes the cooking process of menu items requiring basic technical skills using daily worksheets and recipes.
• Demonstrates competence in critical thinking, interpersonal relationships and technical skills.
• Prepares food for inventory and service including portioning, wrapping, labeling and dating.
• Ensures proper storage and rotation of inventories following HACCP and department standards.
• Maintains a safe and sanitary food preparation environment per unit standards.
• Tests and evaluates new recipes and adjusts hours for cafeteria or catering needs.
