Job summary

Horizons HR Services is seeking a Hospital Dietary Aide for 1st and 2nd shifts with weekly pay. You will support Food and Nutrition Services in a large hospital, helping patients with meals and dietary requirements.

Training and benefits are available through the staffing firm. Responsibilities include assisting with menu selections, maintaining patient information, coordinating with caregivers and culinary staff, and assembling tray meals accurately and on time.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED preferred; current student considered.
• Understanding of basic sanitation and food service procedures.
• Be able to work quietly and quickly in patient areas.
• Excellent organizational skills and a neat appearance.
• Must be able to read and write to facilitate communication with others.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with menu selections and coordinate with nursing to meet dietary requirements.
• Maintain accurate patient information in assigned units and communicate dietary preferences.
• Determine menu alternatives for allergies, sensitivities, or cultural/religious needs.
• Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to patient selections.
• Retrieve trays from patient rooms at scheduled times.

Job Description: Food and Nutrition Services

Food Service Employees perform a combination of food prep duties, serving meals as well as maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and workspaces

• Help patients understand their menu selections and work with nursing to ensure sure their orders comply with their nutritional requirements or restrictions.
• Maintain current and accurate information for each patient in assigned unit(s)Work with the caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for patients with food allergies and sensitivities; cultural, ethnic and religious preferences; or when a patient inquires about additional selections.
• Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to each patient’s menu selection in a timely and accurate manner.
• Retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
