Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a full-time Transport/Courier driver to support the hospital and their clients. You will drive NCH vehicles on courier routes and for on-demand jobs, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups within the hospital network.

The role requires a valid Ohio driver’s license, MV background clearance, and adherence to hospital driving training. You will use the hospital cell phone and tracking system and may assist in training new staff while delivering courteous

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and pass motor vehicle background inspection.
• Driving qualifications and training as set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
• Strong communication and basic computer skills.
• Ability to use hospital provided cell phone and communication tracking system.

Responsibilities

• Maintain schedule to complete routine and on-demand routes daily.
• Handle pick-ups and deliveries from lab, pharmacy, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices and outpatient centers; document route information per guidelines.
• Evaluate weather conditions to preplan trips and delays throughout region.
• Maintain safety of cargo and vehicle per guidelines.
• Assist in training of new staff and document progress per guidelines.
• Provide customer service to ensure patient care.

Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Job Description Summary

Provides transport and support for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Department of Laboratory Medicine and their clients. Drives NCH provided vehicles for courier routes and on-demand jobs.

Essential Functions

• Maintains schedule to complete routine and on-demand routes daily.
• Handles pick-ups and deliveries from lab, pharmacy, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices and outpatient centers. Documents all route information and pick-ups per department guidelines.
• Evaluates and monitors weather conditions throughout shift to preplan for anticipated trips and delays throughout region.
• Maintains safety of cargo and vehicle in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Assists in training of new staff and documents their progress per department guidelines.
• Provides customer service in an efficient and effective manner to ensure customer satisfaction and quality patient care.

Education Requirement

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Licensure Requirement

Valid Ohio driver’s license as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
