Job summary

Corewell Health Troy Hospital is seeking a Cook to prepare and execute complex hot and cold meals using fresh ingredients and commercial equipment. You will contribute to recipe development and ensure quality control, applying HACCP principles and accommodating special and therapeutic diets.

You will collaborate with Dietetic staff, help supervise Dietetic Helpers, and maintain safety and sanitation standards while delivering meals to patients and guests with care and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.
• One-year experience in food service production.
• Culinary/food production training.
• Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent; experience with therapeutic diets; CRT-ServSafe Handler - NRA National Restaurant Association.

Responsibilities

• Provides input into recipe development and modification for regular and therapeutic menus.
• Assists in the coordination and direction of Dietetic Helpers.
• Uses food service equipment (thermometers, knives, slicers, steamers, kettles, etc.) and maintains sanitation per safety standards.
• Applies principles of safe food handling throughout the flow of food.
