Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center, part of MercyOne Health System, is hiring a Cook to join our food service team. Full-time, 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) with varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

You will prepare high-quality, safe foods for staff, visitors, patients, customers and physicians, adhere to food safety regulations, operate and sanitize equipment, and assist the supervisor with ordering JIT foods and supplies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year food service experience or a combination of formal education and experience beyond high school.
• Must read, write, and understand English and communicate effectively.
• Intermediate language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability.
• Able to maintain a professional image and to work effectively with the public.
• High School diploma preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food according to guidelines.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Operates, cleans and sanitizes equipment.
• Supplies high quality and attractive food.
• Assists supervisor in ordering JIT foods/supplies.
