Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo is hiring a Cook to prepare high quality, safe foods for staff, visitors, patients and physicians. Adheres to MercyOne's standards and supports the Mission, Vision and Values in daily service.

You'll follow food safety regulations, operate and sanitize equipment, and help with ordering JIT foods. This is a full-time role with rotating shifts, weekend/holiday rotation, and a fast-paced environment at MercyOne Northeast Iowa.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year food service experience or equivalent education.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English; effective communication with patients and staff.
• High school diploma preferred but not required.
• Ability to maintain a fast pace of work.
• Intermediate language, math, and reasoning abilities.

As a Cook at MercyOne, you will prepare high quality, safe foods for staff, visitors, patients, customers and physicians. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

• Prepares food according to guidelines.

• Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.

• Operates, cleans and sanitizes equipment.

• Supplies high quality and attractive food

• Assists supervisor in ordering JIT foods/supplies.

• Full-time, 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week)

• Varied shifts based on departmental needs

• Weekend and holiday rotation required

• Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties

• Minimum of 1 year food service experience or a combination of formal education and experience beyond high school.

• Intermediate language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability.

• Ability to maintain a professional positive image and to work effectively with the public.

• Ability to maintain a fast pace of work.

• High School diploma preferred but not required.
