Job summary

North Carolina Specialty Hospital in Durham is seeking a Cook to join our Nutrition Services team. Under the Nutrition Services Manager, you will prepare food for patients, cafeteria, and catering events, and perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties.

The role includes cross-training to other Dietary positions to ensure coverage during staffing shortages. You may assist with patient menus, dietary preferences, and coordinating with hospital staff, while supporting quality improvement

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience cooking in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Current ServSafe Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food for patients, cafeteria, and catering events; perform daily, weekly and monthly cleaning duties.
• Cross-train to other Dietary roles to cover staffing shortages.
• Contribute to quality improvement, inventories, and compliance with guidelines.
• Plan daily menus with attention to patient allergies, preferences, and cultural/religious considerations.
