Job summary

The Chaplain provides intensive and extensive spiritual care throughout the hospital and in assigned clinical areas to diverse patients and their families as well as to hospital employees and the organization. The Chaplain will spend approximately 80% of scheduled time at South Hospital, and 20% at Brown Cancer Center at South Hospital.

Qualifications

• Master's level degree acceptance by certifying chaplaincy organizations is required.
• Master of Divinity with specialization in spiritual/pastoral care or chaplaincy is preferred.
• For PRN applicants: completion of at least half of their Master level degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting, training, and coordinating a cohort of community clergy as volunteer on-call chaplains for overnight and weekend coverage.
• Assesses patients' and families' spiritual needs and resources and provides culturally sensitive spiritual care interventions.
• Communicates spiritual care needs of patients and their families as a member of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Provides spiritual care and emotional support to hospital employees.
• Participates in educational programs for chaplain interns and residents.
• Documents all spiritual care interventions and plans of care in patients' medical records.

Education

Master's level degree accepted by certifying chaplaincy organizations

Master of Divinity with specialization in spiritual/pastoral care or chaplaincy

Completion of at least half of Master level degree (PRN)
