Job summary

Avera at Home Milbank seeks a Chaplain to address the spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff within a Christian, patient-centered care framework. You will assess spiritual practices and integrate values into medical plans, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to support healing and comfort.

Responsibilities include planning and delivering pastoral care, coordinating spiritual services, and documenting relevant information in the electronic health record.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent.
• Bachelor's in Theology preferred.
• Association of Professional Chaplains certification preferred (Upon Hire).
• Clinical Pastoral Education - 1 Unit (Upon Hire).
• Driver's License – Upon Hire.
• Good standing in church/denomination.
• 1–3 years of pastoral experience.
• Knowledge of Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives.

Responsibilities

• Work with patients and families to understand medical treatment through spiritual beliefs and support the interdisciplinary health care team.
• Consult with Avera departments and staff, sharing pertinent information about patient condition, family dynamics, and spiritual care needs.
• Plan, facilitate, coordinate, and deliver pastoral and spiritual care to patients, families, and staff who are formally consulted or referred.
