Job summary

WellSpan Health seeks a chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and staff within a hospital setting. The role includes arranging religious services, facilitating spiritual assessments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop care plans.

The incumbent will work across the region, provide bereavement support, and coordinate chaplain coverage with management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited school is required.
• Master's degree from an accredited seminary or school of theology is preferred.
• 2 years of relevant experience is required.
• Ordained/Endorsed by a recognized religious body is required upon hire.
• Board Certification (APC/NACC/NAJC) is preferred; certification within 3 years is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct spiritual care to patients, families, caregivers, and staff.
• Participates in spiritual assessments and plans of care with the interdisciplinary team.
• Liaisons with community chaplains and faith leaders as needed.
• Documents all patient contacts and pertinent information.
• Provides bereavement support and funeral/memorial services as requested.
• Works regionally to cover department needs and scheduling.
