Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a full-time Chaplain to provide spiritual care in a fast-paced hospital environment at Brunswick Medical Center. The role involves triage of patient needs, rapid response to consults, and meticulous documentation in the electronic medical record.

On-site schedule is Monday–Friday, with after-hours on-call from home for emergencies. Ideal candidates hold a Master of Divinity or equivalent, have at least two years of healthcare spiritual care experience, and are eligible

Qualifications

• Graduate degree required (Master of Divinity or equivalent).
• Four units of CPE from nationally accredited body.
• Minimum two years spiritual care experience in healthcare setting.
• Eligible for APC/CPSP certification; board certification within 3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Spiritual Care: respond to referrals across inpatient/outpatient settings; collaborate with chaplain team; perform spiritual assessments; offer prayers and rituals as requested.
• Provide Supportive Counseling: emotional and spiritual support in person or via phone/video.
• Document Care: record interactions in the EMR and designated tools.
• Support End-of-Life Needs: assist with Advance Directives; provide grief support; plan funerals/memorials; conduct services when appropriate.
• Consult on Psychosocial Issues: serve on teams/committees; advise staff on spiritual concerns.
• Support Staff Wellbeing: respond to crises; lead self-care initiatives; offer burnout support and education.
• Engage with Community: represent organization at events; speak to community groups; educate clergy on patient care challenges.
• Participate in Hospital Initiatives: join interdisciplinary rounds and leadership programs.
