Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a detail-oriented unit coordinator on the Med Surg unit. The role involves coordinating tests and treatments across departments, managing EMR orders, and maintaining patient records on a 32-hour weekly schedule with rotating days.

Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential. Daily duties include handling admissions, transfers, discharges, and ensuring timely flow of information between care teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates tests and treatments with multiple departments to schedule tests and treatments.
• Facilitates communications to support patient care using multi-line phone, unit/site paging and hospital information system.
• Maintains EMR and other computer systems for ordering patient and unit supplies; processes daily patient charges.
• Compiles chart forms for admissions, transfers, discharges and expirations.
• Verifies patient demographics and registration in medical records; ensures accuracy of information.
• Establishes positive customer relations and fosters team communication.
• Provides age-appropriate care knowledge per department policies and procedures.
