Position PFS Patient Financial Billing Representative

Description

This position is internally referred to as PFS (Patient Financial Services) Billing Representative.

As part of the Patient Financial Services team, you will helpprotectthe financial stability of the hospital by ensuring timely and accurate follow-up on insurance claims. The work performed helps reduce outstanding balances, resolve insurance-related issues, and support overall revenue cycle performance. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a commitment to professionalism and patient confidentiality.

• Contact insurance companies to verify claim status and resolve payment issues
• Review denied claims and identify root causes of denials
• Prepare and submit appeals with complete and accurate documentation
• Document all follow-up actions clearly within the billing system

• Monitor aging reports and prioritize high-value or time-sensitive accounts

Required Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Experience with insurance claims follow-up and denial management
• Working knowledge of insurance processes, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
• Ability to manage accounts receivable and interpret aging reports

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in hospital billing/collections or medical billing/collections
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
• Experience working with hospital billing systems and/or electronic health record platforms
• Deep knowledge of payer requirements and denial resolution strategies
