Job summary

Caring Hospice Services is seeking a Coordinator of Volunteers to recruit, orient, train, and supervise volunteers across administrative, patient care, and pet therapy roles. You will assess referrals, place volunteers appropriately, and collaborate with the hospice team to support patient needs.

Responsibilities include maintaining recruitment activity, preparing care plans and reports, coordinating recognition events, and promoting volunteer retention through outreach and training that meets

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Experience in program development, management and clinical supervision preferred.
• Ability to relate to terminally ill patients/families and their particular problems.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skills.
• Disposition and personality to work harmoniously with a wide variety of people and all levels of staff in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Recruit volunteers to perform administrative, direct patient care or pet therapy.
• Orient and train volunteers; supervise consistent with duties.
• Assess appropriateness of volunteer involvement from referrals and place volunteers accordingly.
• Supervise and serve as liaison for volunteers with hospice team.
• Complete IDG care plans accurately and timely.
• Prepare reports on volunteer hours and cost savings.
• Maintain volunteer recruitment activities and arrange training to satisfy Medicare COP for hospice.
• Coordinate an annual volunteer recognition event.
• Support volunteer retention through groups, calls, flyers, and meetings.
