Job summary

Phoenix Home Care & Hospice in Springfield, MO seeks a full-time Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to lead the volunteer program and support patient care across our office. You will recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers, ensuring documentation and plan-of-care alignment.

The role emphasizes strong communication, reliability, and organizational skills, with opportunities for continuing education and professional development in a caring, faith-based environment.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or leadership experience is required or preferred.
• Hospice experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Reliable, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Must be detail-oriented, organized and able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the volunteer training and orientation program.
• Assign volunteers to patient visits and review plans of care as needed.
• Maintain volunteer personnel files.
• Attend meetings and community activities.
• Maintain monthly volunteer statistics.
• Foster open communication with volunteers and supervisors.
• Conduct periodic supervisory visits and performance evaluations.
• Ensure time sheets and visit notes are completed and submitted.
• Review visit notes to ensure plan of care compliance.
• Pursue self-development through education and professional activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the volunteer training and orientation program for Phoenix.
• Provide volunteers with assignments. Reviews plan of care (if necessary) before patient visit.
• Maintain volunteer personnel files.
• Attend meeting and activities.
• Maintain monthly stats.
• Foster open line of communication with volunteers
• Periodic supervisory visits
• Volunteer performance evaluations
• Ensuring time sheets and visit notes are completed and submitted.
• Review visit notes to ensure the plan of care is being followed.
• Assume responsibility for self-development by continually striving to improve practice through formal education, workshops, conferences, and professional organizations.

• Supervisory and/or leadership experience

• Ability to communicate well; both verbally and in writing
• Must be reliable, have a great attitude, and possess a strong work-ethic
• Must be detailed, accurate, organized and have the ability to multi-task
