Job summary

AccentCare is seeking a hospice visit physician to provide compassionate, patient-centered medical care for individuals with serious, advanced, or terminal illnesses in the St. Louis area.

The role includes hospice eligibility evaluations, pain and symptom management, and advanced care planning discussions; expects MD/DO licensure in the state, and DEA license; on-call and 24/7 availability as needed.

Qualifications

• Licensed MD or DO in the applicable state with training or experience caring for chronically or terminally ill patients.
• Active DEA license and valid driver’s license.
• Working knowledge of hospice and palliative care, including pain and symptom management.
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills for interactions with patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients for pain, symptom management, and hospice eligibility (admissions and recertifications).
• Counsel patients and families on care options and advance care planning.
• Order tests, initiate treatment, and conduct face-to-face visits as needed.
• Serve as Attending Physician when appropriate.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and communicate with attending physicians to ensure continuity.
• Manage patient medications.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24/7 availability when assigned.
• Complete timely and compliant clinical documentation.
