Job summary

AccentCare, Inc. seeks a Hospice Visit Physician to deliver comprehensive medical oversight in an inpatient hospice setting, with occasional on-call and team coverage.

The role requires leading rounds, coordinating care plans, and ensuring timely documentation, while guiding care teams with compassion and clinical excellence. The successful candidate will be a licensed MD/DO with hospice/palliative experience, active DEA, and familiarity with Medicare requirements.

Qualifications

• Must hold a medical doctor (M.D.) or doctor of osteopathy (D.O.) license in state of practice and training/experience with chronically or terminally ill patients.
• Maintains active DEA license.
• Working knowledge of hospice and palliative care, including pain and symptom management.
• Familiarity with hospice regulations and Medicare requirements.
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication with patients, families, and providers.
• Ability to manage complex clinical and ethical end-of-life situations.
• (Preferred) Hospice or hospice visit experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Plan of Care for each patient, including discharge planning discussions with care team, patients, and families.
• Participate in prognosis evaluation and certification/recertification.
• Sign death certificates as needed.
• Conduct daily patient rounds and set consistent rounding schedules with interdisciplinary team.
• Ensure proper documentation of eligibility for inpatient care.
• Provide education and training to interdisciplinary team and new staff.
• Provide after-hours call coverage on days with inpatient visits.
