Job summary

Day City Hospice in Dayton, OH is seeking a Hospice Aide (STNA/CNA) to provide personal care and supportive services to patients per the plan of care. This role supports families and ensures comfort, dignity, and quality of life in a compassionate, community-based setting.

You will work Monday through Friday, 8a-5p, joining a team that values manageable caseloads, strong teamwork, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Current State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification as required by the state.
• Current CPR certification.
• Eligible to provide patient care and adhere to hospice guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care promptly and compassionately based on patient needs and assignments.
• Ensure patient safety and proper use of equipment (oxygen, side rails, foot stools, etc.).
• Assist with bathing, oral hygiene, shampoos, back rubs, and changing bed linens.
• Assist patients with dressing and undressing.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and shop for groceries if assigned.
• Assist with feeding as needed and take basic vitals as ordered.
• Observe and maintain skin care to prevent breakdown and ensure comfort.
• Report patient conditions and changes to the Case Manager.
• Monitor caregiver dynamics and communicate concerns to the care team.
• Provide respite support for family members and caregivers when appropriate.

Position Summary

The Hospice Aide provides personal care and supportive services to hospice patients in accordance with the patient's plan of care. This role plays a vital part in ensuring comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients while supporting families and caregivers.

What You'll Do

• Provide personal care services promptly and compassionately based on patient assignments and individual needs
• Ensure patient safety and properly utilize equipment such as oxygen, side rails, foot stools, and other assistive devices
• Assist with bathing, oral hygiene, shampoos, back rubs, and changing bed linens as assigned
• Assist patients with dressing and undressing
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals, including grocery shopping when assigned
• Assist patients with feeding as neededTake and record temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure as ordered and within demonstrated competency
• Observe and provide appropriate skin care to help prevent breakdown and maintain patient comfort
• Report patient condition, concerns, and significant changes to the Case Manager
• Maintain awareness of caregiver dynamics and communicate relevant concerns to the care team
• Provide respite support for family members and caregivers when appropriate

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years
• Current State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification as required by the state
• Current CPR certification
• Listed on the state nurse aide registry with a clear record and eligible to provide patient care
• Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort with providing compassionate end-of-life care
• Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary team
