Job summary

Acacia Hospice in Southern California seeks a compassionate chaplain/spiritual counselor to join our hospice division. The role conducts spiritual assessments of patients and families, provides bereavement counseling, and contributes to an interdisciplinary team.

Candidates should be ordained or educated in theology, with experience in death and dying, interfaith settings, and a commitment to hospice philosophy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv or equivalent).
• Experience working with death and dying, individuals/family/caregiver.
• Comfort in an interfaith setting.
• Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
• Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care.
• Hospice experience preferred. Must have a licensed driver with insured automobile in CA.

Responsibilities

• Perform spiritual assessments of patients and families/caregivers.
• Provide bereavement counseling and education.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient and family needs.
• Travel within the service coverage area of North San Diego County as required.
