Job summary

GBMC HealthCare seeks a hospital chaplain to provide spiritual care for patients and families, supporting meaningful death and grief processes. Requires a Master’s degree in theology/divinity, 4 units of CPE, and BCC eligibility. The role involves on-call hours, documentation in EPIC, and interfaith ministry across units.

The Chaplain will participate in rounds, lead worship, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet age-specific spiritual needs while aligning with GBMC values.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in theology or related field and endorsement required.
• Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) with progress toward board certification.
• Board-Certified Chaplain (BCC) or eligibility within 18–24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual support to patients, families, and staff.
• Assess spiritual needs and assist with coping during illness, trauma, and stress.
• Document interventions in EPIC and coordinate with care teams.
• Lead worship services and administer sacraments when appropriate.
• Participate in rounds and departmental activities.
• Support staff with coping and bereavement needs.
