Job summary

Interim HealthCare Hospice is seeking a Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate home-based care to patients with six months or less to live. You’ll work within an interdisciplinary team to carry out the plan of care, assess patients, monitor vitals and administer prescribed medications.

This role emphasizes autonomy, flexible assignments, ongoing online training to earn CEUs, and benefits like PTO, holiday pay, medical/dental/vision and 401(k).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and active RN license in Virginia.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in hospice.
• CPR certification.
• Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations.
• Clinical proficiency in nursing, strong communication skills and compassion.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide home-based care to patients with six months or less to live, focused on quality of life.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to carry out the patient’s plan of care.
• Perform patient assessments, check vitals, evaluate breathing, monitor pain, administer prescribed medication and treatments.
• Ensure accessibility of medical equipment, prescribed oxygen, medication and other supplies.
• Educate family on the patient’s prognosis, changes in care plan, medication and hospice goals.
• Take a holistic approach to care that engages the patient’s mind, body, spirit and family.

As a Hospice RN, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:

• Provide home-based care to patients with six months or less to live, focused on quality of life
