Job summary

Interim HealthCare Hospice is seeking a compassionate Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to provide home-based, patient-centered care across Mandeville, Covington, Slidell, Kenner, Metairie, and New Orleans areas. You’ll join an interdisciplinary team, supporting patients and families with dignity and comfort.

The PRN role offers flexibility, 1:1 patient care, and opportunities for online training, CEU credits, and career growth while helping patients live their final months with peace.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and active RN license in Louisiana.
• Minimum of 1 year of home hospice nursing experience.
• CPR certification.
• Valid Louisiana driver's license, auto insurance and transportation.
• Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations.
• Clinical proficiency in nursing with strong communication and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Provide home-based care to patients with a prognosis of six months or less to live, focused on quality of life.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team comprised of a physician, LPN, CNA, HHA, social worker, chaplain and volunteers to carry out the patient’s plan of care.
• Perform patient assessments, check vitals, evaluate breathing, monitor pain, administer prescribed medication and treatments.
• Ensure accessibility of medical equipment, prescribed oxygen, medication and other supplies.
• Educate family on the patient’s prognosis, changes in care plan, medication and hospice goals.
• Take a holistic approach to care that engages the patient’s mind, body, spirit and family.

Skills
