Job summary

Hospice of Michigan in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide skilled nursing care for patients in Centrica Rose Arbor Place. Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, BSN preferred.
• Maintains license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Michigan.
• At least one year's general nursing experience with hospice, medical, surgical, or critical care experience.
• Has experience with pain/symptom management; IV skills preferred.
• Maintains current BLS certification.
• Experience with terminally ill patients and pain management.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable vehicle for job use.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional nursing care by utilizing all elements of the nursing process.
• Assesses and evaluates patient's status and initiates a Plan of Care; re-evaluates as needed; revises Plan of Care accordingly.
• Initiates and sustains orders for medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Performs appropriate nursing procedures and communicates with the physician and Interdisciplinary Group.
• Maintains accurate and timely clinical notes regarding patient care.
• Monitors patient changes and reports to the physician and Interdisciplinary Group.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and supports self-care and comfort.
• Educates patient/family on self-care and health counseling; collaborates with team.
• Assists with food preparation, housekeeping, and environment of care.
• Assesses nutritional status and provides counseling as needed.
• Supervises ancillary staff and delegates responsibilities as required.
• May perform specialized procedures, such as IV Therapy, when qualified.
