Hospice of Michigan in Kalamazoo, MI seeks a dedicated Hospice Aide to support patients in their homes under RN supervision. You will perform personal care, monitor health status, and document care to promote comfort and home-based hospice goals.

The role emphasizes compassionate care for terminally ill patients, collaboration with families, and adherence to safety policies. Applicants should hold a valid CNA license, BLS, and a valid MI driver’s license.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or equivalent with one year in-home health aide experience.
• Must hold a Michigan Certified Nurse Aide license.
• Current BLS certification.
• Must pass Home Health Care Aide Skills Assessment Test with 80% or better.
• Experience with terminally ill care, pain and symptom management.
• Negative TB skin test and/or chest X-ray as required by policy.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and insured vehicle for work.
• Up-to-date immunizations per policy.

Responsabilidades

• Performs personal care needs after patient assignment and attends to requests promptly.
• Meets safety needs of patient and uses equipment safely (footstools, side rails, O2).
• Provides personal care: baths, oral hygiene, shampoos, changing bed linens.
• Assists in dressing/undressing and feeding as assigned.
• Plans nutritious meals and other household tasks as part of the Plan of Care.
• Records vital signs when ordered.
• Observes patient skin for tissue integrity.
• Reports patient status changes to the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Assists with ambulation and mobility as instructed.
• Assists with bedpans/urinals, light laundry.
• Performs ROM and simple procedures as ordered.
• Provides respite for patients/families/caregivers when on-site.
• Keeps living area clean and orderly.
• Stays informed on hospice care trends and participates in improvement activities.
• Promotes referrals and maintains community standing.

Conhecimentos

Home health aide experience

CNA license (MI)

BLS certification

Skills assessment test (80%)

TB test / chest X-ray clearance
