Job summary

VITAS Healthcare in Bloomington, IL is seeking a home care registered nurse (RN) to provide compassionate end-of-life care in patients' homes. You will establish comfort, build meaningful connections, and assess needs to guide comfort-focused care.

As a trusted team member, you will have autonomy at the bedside to make care decisions and regularly collaborate with social workers, physicians, chaplains, and other nurses. Expect 4–6 visits per day across home or facility settings.

Qualifications

• Active registered nurse license in the state where the program is located.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience in hospice, home health, or community health in the last five years.
• Equivalent experience or licensure may be considered

Responsibilities

• Provide comfort to hospice patients and build compassionate connections with patients and families.
• Maintain bedside autonomy to guide care decisions and ensure timely comfort.
• Explain and advocate for palliative, comfort-focused care as part of end-of-life planning.
• Visit patients at home or in facilities; typically 4–6 visits per day and collaborate with the team.
