Job summary

Absolute Hospice in Zanesville, OH is seeking a compassionate Music Therapist to join our hospice team on a PRN basis. You will assess patients and families, create individualized music therapy interventions, and provide support to enhance comfort and emotional well-being during life’s most important moments.

The role requires MT-BC licensure, a Bachelor’s in Music Therapy (Master’s preferred), and at least two years of experience in hospice or community settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy; a master's degree is preferred.
• Current MT-BC credential and any applicable state credentials.
• At least two years of relevant music therapy experience.
• Hospice or community-based experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of hospice philosophy focusing on comfort and quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' and families' needs and develop individualized music therapy interventions to support comfort, emotional well-being, and quality of life.
• Use music to encourage connection, reminiscence, relaxation, and meaningful experiences for patients and loved ones.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to identify patient needs and coordinate appropriate care.
• Provide compassionate support to families throughout the hospice journey, including bereavement follow-up.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and protect patient and family confidentiality.
• Educate staff, caregivers, and community partners about the benefits of music therapy in hospice care.
• Assist with support groups and other programs as needed.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives while supporting Absolute Hospice's patient-centered care.
