Role Responsibilities

The Hospice Medical Director (HMD) will:

  1. Be responsible for the overall medical direction of patient and family services.
  2. Work with the Executive Director, Director of Clinical Services, and Team Directors to plan and evaluate clinical services.
  3. Serve on the Executive Team and support Provider Relations activities.
  4. Provide input to the CPI Committee and assume a leadership role on the Ethics Committee.

In conjunction with the HMD responsibilities, the Team Physician will:

  1. Partner with the interdisciplinary care team and lead in Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings to ensure comprehensive care planning.
  2. Participate in in-person and virtual visits, documenting all encounters to ensure patient benefits are accessible.
  3. Participate in a Call Coverage Rotation to address unforeseen needs and assist newly admitted patients.
  4. Exemplify team leadership and foster learning initiatives around end-of-life issues.

Qualifications

Hospice Medical Director and Team Physician qualifications include:

  • Active medical license and DEA in the state of care
  • Ten+ years of clinical experience (preferred)
  • Five+ years in a medical director or administrative role (preferred)
  • Experience in building new product/service markets (preferred)
Required Certifications and Licenses
  • Unrestricted physician license in at least one key state (e.g., Texas)
  • Valid driver's license
