Qualifications

• Massage Therapy training from an accredited institution or equivalent.
• Licensed Massage Therapist in the State of Iowa.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS; certification due within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge and comfort with electronic records.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and the treatment team.
• Tactful and professional communication at all times.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and tolerance to massage therapy per hospice plan.
• Provide massage therapy in hospice inpatient facility.
• Coordinate massage treatment plan with other therapies.
• Maintain calm, soothing environment during treatment.
• Educate patients, family and staff on massage therapy use.
• Communicate patient responses to treatment to the care team.
• Document patient information accurately in medical records.
• Participate in team meetings and quality improvement efforts.
• Assist with orientation of new department staff as appropriate.
