Job summary

Pella Regional Health Center is seeking a dedicated Massage Therapist to provide hospice massage services within the inpatient facility in Iowa. You will assess patients, plan and implement massage interventions, and coordinate with the palliative care team to support comfort and quality of life.

Requirements include accredited massage therapy training, Iowa licensure, and BLS. You will work closely with physicians and staff, documenting patient progress and contributing to quality improvement

Qualifications

• Massage Therapy training from an accredited institution or equivalent.
• Current Iowa licensure as a Massage Therapist.
• AHA Heart Code BLS certification; within 3 months after hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient, their needs, capabilities and ability to tolerate treatment and performs reassessments for response to treatment.
• Provide massage therapy in hospice inpatient facility.
• Coordinate the massage therapy treatment plan with other therapy treatment provided by the treatment team.
• Maintain a calm and soothing environment during treatment.
• Instruct patients, family and staff in the use of massage therapy.
• Maintain ongoing effective communication with hospice personnel involved with patient care and report on patient’s response to treatment or changes in condition.
• Document accurate and ongoing patient information in the patient’s medical record.
• Participate in team meetings, committees and quality improvement processes and planning as requested.
• Assist in the orientation of new employees to the department.
