Job summary

VITAS Healthcare in Ocala, FL is seeking an LPN/LVN to administer nursing care per the plan of care for terminally ill patients within the VITAS program, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of Florida.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Practical/Vocational nursing program.
• Currently licensed to practice nursing in the state where the program is located.
• At least one year of satisfactory nursing experience, with at least one year as an LPN/LVN in a hospital on an adult medical surgical unit.
• Equivalent experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct skilled bedside nursing care.
• Evaluates patient/family needs and assists in the interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Performs nursing acts under RN supervision, including administration of treatments and medications.
• Evaluates effectiveness of treatments and monitors patient responses.
• Documents findings and care in clinical notes.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for the patient and family.
• Manages documentation including interdisciplinary charts.
• Participates in patient/family teaching and discharge planning.
• Participates in ongoing professional growth and education.
• May participate in on-call rotation and flexible scheduling.
