Job summary

The LPN/LVN at VITAS Healthcare in Ocala, FL provides direct bedside nursing care to terminally ill patients under the plan of care and RN supervision. You will participate in the interdisciplinary team, document care, administer treatments and medications, and support families.

The role requires graduation from an approved Practical/Vocational nursing program, current state license, and at least one year of hospital med/surg nursing experience. Weekend or rotating shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Practical/Vocational nursing program.
• Currently licensed to practice nursing in the state where the program is located.
• At least one year of satisfactory nursing experience, including hospital med/surg in an adult unit.
• Equivalent experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct skilled bedside nursing care.
• Evaluates patient/family needs and assists in the plan of care for each patient on the team.
• Performs nursing tasks under RN supervision, including administration of treatments and medications.
• Evaluates effectiveness of treatments and monitors patient responses.
• Documents reports in clinical notes and maintains accurate documentation.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for the patient and family.
• Participates in nursing protocols and supports interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families and encourages participation in care.
