AccentCare is seeking a Hospice Visit Physician (Inpatient) to provide medical oversight and direct patient care in an inpatient hospice setting, with occasional on-call coverage. The role includes rounds, discharge planning, and leadership for the care team.

The position supports both in-person and remote coverage within Delaware. Qualifications include MD/DO license in state(s) of practice, active DEA, and experience in hospice/palliative care.

Qualifications

  • Active DEA license is required.
  • Proficiency in hospice and palliative care, including pain and symptom management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Plan of Care for each patient, including discharge planning with care team, patients and families.
  • Participate in prognosis evaluation and certification/recertification.
  • Sign death certificates as needed.
  • Conduct daily patient rounds with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure proper documentation of eligibility for inpatient care.
  • Provide education and training to the team and new staff.
  • Provide after-hours call coverage on days with inpatient visits.

Remote/Virtual Position: In-person + remote coverage
Coverage Area: Delaware

Salary: Per visit/coverage
Schedule: One weekend a month + PRN team/on-call coverage

What You Need to Know

AccentCare is seeking a hospice visit physician to provide comprehensive medical oversight and direct patient care within an inpatient hospice setting as well as occasional on-call and team coverage. This physician will conduct patient rounds according to the required schedule, coordinate physician coverage, participate in discharge planning, and provide trusted clinical leadership and education to care team members. If you meet these qualifications, we would love to meet you:

  • Must be a licensed Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) in the state(s) of practice, with training or experience in caring for chronically or terminally ill patients
  • Maintains active DEA license
  • Working knowledge of hospice and palliative care, including pain and symptom management.
  • Familiarity with hospice regulations and Medicare requirements.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with patients, families, and providers.
  • Ability to manage complex clinical and ethical situations in end-of-life care.
  • (Preferred) Hospice or hospice visit experience

Job Responsibilities:
