Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Reading, MA seeks an Overnight Hospice RN to provide professional nursing care within the hospice team. Under supervision of the Hospice House RN Manager, you will contribute to assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursing services and ensure care follows the defined plan of care.

The role requires an active MA RN license and BLS, with 2+ years of RN experience (1+ year hospice experience preferred).

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN license is required.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience in acute care, rehab or home care; hospice experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing visits to patients as assigned by the Hospice RN Case Manager/Hospice Clinical Manager.
• Provide hospice nursing care using current palliative care and symptom management principles.
• Observe and report significant changes in patient health status to the MD and Hospice RN Manager.
• Participate in health teaching for patients and families.
• Respect and support patient and family cultural beliefs and health goals.
• Effectively communicate with patients, caregivers and the interdisciplinary team.
• Attend regular IDT meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.

What You’ll Do

The Overnight Hospice RN performs professional nursing care, functions as a member of the hospice team and provides input into the assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursing services. Under the direction and supervision of the Hospice House RN Manager, the Hospice RN is accountable for the quality of nursing care he or she provides and assumes responsibility for the provision of nursing care in accordance with the established plan of care for assigned patients.

More Specifically

• Perform nursing visits to patients as assigned by the Hospice RN Case Manager/Hospice Clinical Manager.
• Provide hospice nursing care to patients and families utilizing current principles of palliative care and symptom management to produce hospice outcomes as directed.
• Observe, record, and report significant changes in the patient's healthcare status to the MD and Hospice RN Manager.
• Participate in the health teaching required by the patient and family.
• Respect and support patient and family's cultural beliefs and values, individual needs, health goals and treatment preferences.
• Effectively communicate with patients, caregivers, and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team incorporating interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills.
• Attend regular IDT meetings.
• Practice confidentiality principles set by the agency and federal HIPAA guidelines.

What You’ll Need

• An active valid Massachusetts RN license;
• An active American Health Association BLS certification;
• 2+ years of experience as an RN in an acute care, rehab or home care setting; 1+ year of hospice experience preferred.

Pay Range

$78,604.50 USD - $112,500.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
