Qualifications

  • Licensed physician, physical therapist, speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, or registered nurse.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, preferably in community health, home health, or hospice.
  • At least 1 year supervisory and administrative experience.

Job Overview

Eden Hospice is hiring a Director of Nursing to serve as an expert resource for the agency, providing leadership and guidance to clinical supervisors overseeing multidisciplinary teams providing direct patient care throughout Spokane, WA.

Essential Functions
  1. Develop, plan, organize, and direct patient care services in accordance with regulations and standards.
  2. Implement policies, procedures, goals, and standards relevant to patient services and staff functions.
  3. Maintain staffing levels to meet patient care demands and ensure proper coverage.
  4. Support a culture of safety and quality.
  5. Direct and support QAPI activities, including evaluation, planning, and implementation.
  6. Assist in financial planning and budget management.
  7. Hire, orient, train, evaluate, and discipline staff to retain quality personnel.
  8. Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements for reimbursement.
  9. Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure quality care, operational efficiency, and business development.
  10. Coordinate with physicians, payers, patients, families, and community resources to promote and coordinate care.
  11. Stay updated on clinical methods, trends, and research, communicating updates to staff.
  12. Support policy and procedural changes within the agency.
  13. Consult with stakeholders to develop solutions and address issues.
  14. Set strategic and operational goals, analyze metrics, and implement action plans.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of hospice regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of hospice functions, patient care, and pain management.
  • Compassionate approach towards end-of-life issues.
  • Flexibility, organization, and ability to work under stress.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of state-specific healthcare modalities and scope of practice.
  • Self-directed work ethic with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Leadership in planning, coordinating, and supervising healthcare services.
  • Competency in nursing theory, techniques, and community health.
  • Understanding of HIS data collection and reporting.
  • Focus on patient-centered, value-based care, and continuous improvement.
Education and Experience
  • Licensed physician, physical therapist, speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, or registered nurse.
  • Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, with preference for community health, home health, or hospice experience in the past five years.
  • At least 1 year supervisory and administrative experience.
  • Current license from the state Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Current CPR certification.
