Job summary

ExcelaCare Hospice in Lubbock seeks a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) PRN to provide essential patient care and support. The role emphasizes comfort, safety, and well‑being, working closely with nursing staff in a hospice setting.

The successful candidate will perform ADLs, monitor vital signs, assist with mobility, and participate in care planning. Requires CNA certification, valid driver’s license, and ability to travel locally as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Nursing Assistant course and state certification.
• One year experience in a comparable role.
• Driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance; no OIG exclusion.
• Nurse Aide training/ competency eval program approved by state.
• State nurse aide registry standing on file.
• State licensure requirements as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
• Provide mobility assistance and transfer/positioning support.
• Adjust beds and ensure patient comfort; provide hydration and nourishment.
• Measure and record vital signs and report changes to nursing staff.
• Assist with basic medical procedures under supervision of licensed staff.
• Collect specimens for lab tests as directed.
• Document patient condition and care provided in records.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Maintain a clean, safe patient environment; or assist with supplies and equipment.
• Support and collaborate with nurses to implement care plans; participate in ongoing education.
