Job summary

Cascade Health seeks an experienced Hospice House Nurse Leader to oversee admissions, staff coaching, and care coordination at the Pete Moore Hospice House. You will partner with the Manager to supervise nursing tasks, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain high-quality patient care in a dynamic hospice environment.

You will participate in QAPI activities, lead education initiatives, and provide back-up coverage for the House Manager as needed. A valid RN license and CPR are required.

Qualifications

• Current Oregon RN license and CPR certification.
• Food Handler’s Card obtained upon hire.
• Two years’ experience with terminally ill patients.
• Two+ years of supervisory experience preferred; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee admissions, discharges, death tasks, and documentation for Cascade Hospice patients.
• Ensure staff take breaks and manage overtime.
• Utilize nursing skills, CPR, emergency response, and patient assessments supervision.
• Manage care coordination with Hospice Interdisciplinary Team meetings.
• Provide coaching and training to clinical staff.
• Participate in conflict resolution and peer communication.
• Work independently with time management and sound judgment.
• Maintain knowledge of current nursing practices and equipment usage.
• Collaborate with scheduler to ensure staffing plan compliance.
• Review documentation for regulatory and best-practice compliance.
• Oversee admissions and discharges with referral sources.
• Participate in conferences, meetings, and in-services.
• Oversee Hospital Drug Room procedures and required documentation.
• Contribute to CQI/QAPI projects and incident investigations.
• Serve as first contact for safety issues and family/patient/staff conflicts.
• Assist in hiring, training, evaluating, and supervising staff.
• Provide back-up coverage for House Manager duties.
