Key Job Responsibilities

Provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families, assist during the patient's death, and support the family during bereavement.

Qualifications

• Support the agency's mission, philosophy, and core values
• Ensure compliance with policies regarding patient care, safety, and emergency procedures
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations

Regulatory Requirements

• Pass criminal background and MVR checks
• Complete health statements confirming ability to perform duties
• Valid state driver's license and proof of auto insurance
• Current CPR certification (online accepted; hands-on preferred)
• TB testing as per policy (initial and annual screening)

Industry Experience

• Experience in hospice preferred
• Ability to work independently and respond to crises appropriately
• Minimum 2 years as a chaplain or spiritual counselor preferred
• Active patient contact within the past three years preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited seminary or theological school, or certification in hospital or pastoral ministry
• Degree or certificate in pastoral ministry
