Responsibilities of a Hospice Aide/CNA
- Report to the Administrator, Executive Director or Patient Care Manager Senior, and work under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
- Help the patient maintain good personal hygiene.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
- Prepare and serve light meals; assist in feeding when needed.
- Assist the patient in ambulation and with the safe use of mobility aids.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks.
- Assist with treatments as ordered and allowed by state regulations.
- Promote patient mental alertness through engagement in activities.
- Provide emotional and psychological support.
- Report changes in patient condition or home situation.
- Demonstrate basic care to caregivers.
- Follow infection control measures and document visits accurately.
- Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities.
- Complete timely documentation as per orientation guidelines.
Candidate Requirements
- Compassionate, empathetic, and kind.
- Comfortable providing care in a patient's home.
- Flexible and composed under pressure.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
- Six months of relevant patient care experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance.
- Current CPR certification.
