Responsibilities of a Hospice Aide / CNA
  • Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager and function under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Help the patient maintain good personal hygiene.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Prepare and serve light meals and assist in feeding patients when needed.
  • Assist the patient in ambulation and with the safe use of mobility aids.
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks and certain treatments as ordered and allowable by state regulations.
  • Promote patient’s mental alertness through activities of interest.
  • Provide basic emotional and psychological support.
  • Report changes in patient’s condition or home situation.
  • Demonstrate care techniques to primary caregivers.
  • Practice infection control and standard precautions.
  • Complete accurate documentation and attend staff meetings.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities and complete documentation timely.
Qualifications
  • Compassionate, kind, and empathetic to patients and families.
  • Comfortable providing care in the patient's home environment.
  • Flexible and able to support others during crises.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • Six months of patient care experience preferred.
  • Current driver’s license, automobile insurance, and CPR certification.
