Horizontal Machining Center Operator - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio

Responsibilities

• Operate a horizontal boring mill, with and without continuous path control, performing contouring, boring, facing, turning, counter boring, grooving, undercutting, reaming, milling, drilling and tapping operations to produce quality product in accordance with established quality and procedural guidelines.
• Make in-process changes to programs and edit/write programs as necessary under the supervision of a programmer and/or immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalency required. Formal technical education preferred, but not required. A minimum of three (3) years of technical experience in a similar role is desired.
• Ability to maintain detailed records, complete process documentation and other production records.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (dial indicators, vernier calipers, micrometers, calipers, etc.).
• Ability to recognize problems as programs run and write/edit programs using G and M coded controls (experience with Siemens and Fanuc controls preferred).
• Ability to work with tolerances of .000" and to a microfinish 16 when necessary.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Must be open and available to working all shifts.

Physical Demands

The role requires standing, frequent hand use, walking, and occasional bending or stooping. Lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work may expose the employee to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, and a noise level ranging from normal to loud. Compensation and Benefits

This position pays $40.90 per hour and is complemented by a benefits package. A relocation package is available for eligible candidates upon offer. Details of participation in benefits plans will be provided at the time of offer and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The starting rate for this position in Ohio (US-OH) is $40.90 per hour.
