Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure the safety of pool patrons and maintain a clean aquatic environment. You will monitor the pool area, respond to emergencies, and provide friendly service to members and guests.

Responsibilities include surveillance, following YMCA safety procedures, performing equipment checks, conducting chemical testing, and attending trainings. Must maintain certifications and uphold the YMCA standards in a dynamic aquatic setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16.
• Certificates: YMCA Lifeguard, ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro), Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
• Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.
• Know/review all emergency procedures and respond immediately per YMCA policies.
• Maintain positive relationships with members, participants and staff.
• Apply safety rules and guidelines for pool and aquatic area; keep records as required by YMCA/Health Dept.
• Perform equipment checks and ensure needed equipment is available.
• Check pool for hazards on arrival.
• Perform chemical testing when not guarding and take appropriate action.
• Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As a YMCA Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all pool patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. You will maintain a safe and clean aquatic environment and provide exceptional service to all members and guests

Essential Functions

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
• Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model. Completes related reports as required.
• Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
• Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
• Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
• Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.
• Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
