YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure the safety and well‑being of pool patrons and maintain a clean aquatic environment while delivering friendly service to members and guests. Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Certifications: YMCA Lifeguard, ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro), Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
  • Ability to maintain certification and physical/mental readiness.
  • Demonstrates lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
  • Responds immediately to emergencies following YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Maintains positive relationships with members, participants and staff.
  • Follows safety rules and keeps accurate required records.
  • Performs equipment checks and ensures availability of necessary equipment.
  • Checks pool for hazards on arrival and during shifts.
  • Performs chemical testing when not guarding and takes appropriate action.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

As a YMCA Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all pool patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. You will maintain a safe and clean aquatic environment and provide exceptional service to all members and guests


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
  • Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model. Completes related reports as required.
  • Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
  • Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
  • Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  • Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  • Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.
  • Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
