Job summary

Riverdale Y is seeking a Homework Support Teacher to supervise and assist K-6 students with their after-school homework in a structured, supportive environment.

Work Monday-Thursday 3:30-6:00 PM with pay at $30/hour; candidates should be patient, organized, and capable of supporting diverse learners in a school-age program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or background in education/tutoring preferred.
• Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational or after school setting.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple grade levels simultaneously.
• Patient, flexible, and supportive approach to learning.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Homework Support Teacher will work with children in grades K-6 enrolled in the Riverdale Y's after school program to ensure all homework is completed each day. This role requires patience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to support a wide range of learners with varying needs and abilities. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, structured, and supportive environment that helps children stay focused and build confidence in their academic skills.

The Homework Support Teacher will work Monday-Thursday from 3:30-6:00 PM. If all homework is completed before dismissal, the teacher may leave early. Pay rate is $30/hour.
