Job summary

Entertimeonline is seeking a part-time Youth Scholars Teacher in Matthews, NC to develop and implement engaging homeschool curriculum under the direction of the Youth Program Director. You will foster a safe, structured learning environment and collaborate with families and YMCA staff to deliver interactive lessons and assessments.

The role emphasizes alignment with YMCA values, effective communication with parents, and active participation in staff development and program improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of teaching experience or equivalent education in a related field.
• Fluent in English with strong communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
• Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, or homeschool instruction.
• Ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that meets students’ individual needs.
• Strong classroom management and leadership skills.
• Commitment to the YMCA’s mission, values, and educational philosophy.
• Ability to handle conflict resolution and create a positive and safe space for learning.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach age-appropriate curriculum that supports homeschool students’ academic and social development.
• Plan, prepare, and implement lesson plans that align with the agreed-upon curriculum and educational goals.
• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all students in the program.
• Assess student progress, communicate updates to parents, and adjust lesson plans as needed for individual learning needs.
• Take attendance and maintain accurate records of student participation and progress.
• Work collaboratively with assistant teachers, volunteers, and program staff to enhance the student learning experience.
• Set up and break down classrooms daily, ensuring a clean, organized, and engaging learning environment.
• Support positive behavior management by fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and training as required.
• Represent the YMCA professionally through positive interactions with students, families, and staff while promoting YMCA programs.
