Job summary

Habitat Omaha is seeking a Homeownership Housing Counselor – Short-Term Services to provide personalized housing counseling and financial coaching to individuals and families on a shorter path to homeownership in Omaha. You will work one-on-one with clients to strengthen credit, increase savings, and guide them through the homebuying process.

The role emphasizes collaboration with mortgage staff and community partners, maintains detailed client records, and helps clients meet program goals

Qualifications

Associate's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
1-3 years of housing counseling, mortgage lending, banking, financial coaching, nonprofit services, customer service, or related field.
Bilingual language skills are a plus.
HUD housing counseling experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

Deliver one-on-one housing counseling services to prospective homebuyers pursuing short-term homeownership goals.
Assess income, expenses, debt, credit, savings, and overall mortgage readiness.
Develop personalized action plans that help clients achieve homeownership objectives within approximately 12 months.
Conduct follow-up counseling sessions to monitor progress, address challenges, and update action plans as needed.
Coordinate with Habitat Omaha's mortgage team and community partners to support client progress.
