CONTRACT DAYS/HOURS: As needed for Days and less than 20 hours per week

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their regular educational requirements for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills

Knowledge of subjects assigned

General knowledge of curriculum and instructions

Experience

At least one year of successful teacher experience in an accredited public or private school.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Planning and Delivery
  • Collaborate with students' campus-based teachers and appropriate staff to obtain curriculum, instructional materials, assignments, assessments, and other learning resources necessary to provide continuity of instruction during the student's homebound placement.
  • Provide direct instruction and facilitate learning in assigned subject areas using instructional strategies, materials, resources, and technology appropriate to the student's needs and instructional setting to promote continued academic progress and successful transition back to the campus setting when appropriate.
  • Follow the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), district curriculum expectations, Board policy, administrative regulations, and other applicable requirements when delivering instruction.
  • Adapt instructional materials, pacing, assignments, and learning activities to address individual student needs while maintaining alignment with course standards and expected learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers, special education staff, counselors, related-service personnel, and other appropriate staff to support students receiving special education services and implement applicable IEP accommodations and modifications.
  • Use appropriate educational technology and digital resources to support instruction, communication, assignment completion, assessment, and student engagement.
  • Communicate student progress, instructional concerns, and academic needs to the appropriate campus personnel and provide completed student work and assessment information to the student's regular teachers or designated staff.
Instructional Environment, Safety, and Student Support
  • Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive instructional environment within the home or other approved instructional setting.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and follow district procedures related to working with students in a home-based instructional environment.
  • Implement appropriate strategies to support student engagement and address behavior or instructional concerns in accordance with district policy, administrative guidelines, and applicable IEP requirements.
  • Follow all applicable health, safety, confidentiality, and emergency procedures while providing instruction in the homebound setting.
  • Promptly communicate significant concerns related to student safety, attendance, participation, academic progress, or changes in the student's educational needs to the appropriate district personnel.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Establish and maintain clear, timely, and professional communication with students, parents/guardians, teachers, campus administrators, counselors, special education personnel, and other appropriate staff.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members and demonstrate respect for diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and individual needs.
Documentation, Compliance, and Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of instructional services, student attendance, assignments, assessments, communication, progress, and other documentation required by the district.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student educational records and other personally identifiable information in accordance with applicable federal and state law, district policy, and professional standards.
  • Comply with district procedures governing homebound instruction, including requirements related to service documentation, instructional time, attendance, communication, and student records.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
