Job summary

Momentum Academy in St. Louis is seeking a Homebound Teacher to deliver engaging lessons to scholars in homebound or hospital settings, aligning with CKLA literacy, EL literacy, RedThread, and Zearn math curricula.

You will collaborate with the Director of Scholar Support and Principal to ensure instructional excellence, provide accommodations with SPED/MLL teams, and support daily classroom operations while maintaining high expectations for scholar growth and character development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Missouri Teaching Certification preferred (Grades B-3 or 1-5)

  • Establish a positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment.
  • Planning and implementing a program of instruction and lesson plans.
  • Preparing scholars for exams.
  • Inspiring and motivating scholars to extend themselves to after school music clubs.
  • Building relationships and mentoring scholars.
  • Evaluate individual scholar academic progress through regular and varied assessments
  • Assume responsibility for scholar success by holding all scholars accountable to school-wide behavioral expectations
  • Recognize, celebrate and reward scholar achievement and character development
  • Build rapport with scholars, parents, and families
  • Continually improve teaching skills by seeking out constructive feedback and professional development opportunities
  • Actively and professionally participate in all faculty and staff meetings, professional development, and events
  • Assist with scholar recruitment efforts as needed
  • Perform other duties as requested or required

Role Overview

The Homebound Teacher commits to teaching and leading Momentum's mission, instructional vision, and excellence for our scholars in a homebound or hospital setting. The Homebound Teacher will work collaboratively with the Director of Scholar Support and Principal to internalize and deliver engaging lessons from CKLA literacy, EL literacy, RedThread, and Zearn math curriculum. The homebound teacher will collaborate with special education and MLL (Multilingual Language) teachers to provide appropriate accommodations for scholars, and support the daily instructional and technical operations of the classroom.

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Missouri Teaching Certification preferred (Grades B-3 or 1-5)
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience working with scholars preferred (experience working with scholars and families in urban communities is a plus)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proven track record of scholar achievement results
  • Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • A tireless work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative solution finder.
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuously improving.
Compensation

This position is paid on an hourly basis, beginning at $25 per hour.

Schedule & Work Environment

This role will be effective for the 26-27 school year. Teachers and staff are expected to be present for core instructional hours from August to May.
