Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking an HME Coordinator to manage patient intake and orders, verify insurance, and coordinate equipment delivery and setup. You will educate patients and caregivers on device use, safety, and maintenance, while ensuring accurate documentation and billing compliance.

In this role you will liaise across hospital teams, support discharge planning, and deliver timely, high-quality service in both clinical and home settings.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in customer service and patient care.
• Proven ability to work independently with accountability and adaptability.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficient in basic computer applications and scheduling tools.
• Experience working with home or durable medical equipment.
• Auditing casework and data trends experience.
• Translating diagnoses into ICD-9/ICD-10 codes.

Responsibilities

• Delivers exceptional customer service by handling inquiries and triaging to appropriate staff.
• Coordinates patient intake and order processing with referral information and EMR data entry.
• Verifies insurance/self-pay status and supports discharges with hospital staff.
• Manages delivery/fulfillment of medical equipment, coordinating with staff for timely setup.
• Provides patient education, fittings, and ensures clinician orders are followed.
• Collaborates across departments to ensure seamless service delivery and compliance with billing/privacy rules.
• Audits casework and supports process improvements.
• Maintains insurance eligibility and ICD coding accuracy.
