Job summary

Optum, as part of the UnitedHealth Group family, is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to support home care patients. You will perform treatment, provide exercise instruction, and educate patients according to the plan of care.

Primary responsibilities include following state laws, aiding with exercise and mobility, and coordinating care with the supervising Physical Therapist and health team. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client.
• Available to work a weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

• Follow state laws governing provision of physical therapy in home care and adhere to the supervising PT's plan of care.
• Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and changes in condition; coordinate care with the health care team.
• Instruct patient, family, caregiver, and other health team members in therapy within the scope of the physical therapy assistant.
