Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to organize and conduct medically prescribed therapy programs in the home or daycare setting to restore patient function.

The role requires 1–2 years of PT experience and current licenses, with a focus on delivering individualized treatment plans, supervising assistants as needed, and maintaining accurate patient records in accordance with agency standards.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years experience in Physical Therapy required.
  • Active Physical Therapist license (LPT) required.
  • BLS and CPR/AED certifications required.
  • Texas driver’s license and proof of insurance required.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and aids patient in active and passive exercises and functional training.
  • Provides instructions for home exercise programs to be continued by patient/family.
  • Adapts PT techniques for patients with communication or cognitive challenges.
  • Designs physical therapy plans with goals for each patient.
  • Evaluates and documents patient progress for care team review.

Required

Experience and Education

  • Experience: One (1) to two (2) years in Physical Therapy is required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • CPR AED course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Proof of driver’s insurance.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist (LPT).
Job Duties
  • Directs and aids patient in active and passive exercises, muscle re‑education, and functional training using pulleys, weights, steps, and inclined surfaces.
  • Provides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient/family.
  • Adapts conventional physical therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercises.
  • Designs physical therapy programs and sets goals for each patient.
  • Evaluates, records, and reports on patient’s progress for review by members of the care team.
  • Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of treatment.
  • Responsible for monitoring delivery of physical therapy services in adherence to agency’s clinical standards.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program.
  • Provides supervisory visits for Physical Therapy Assistants as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for participating in on‑call rotation and emergency call according to agency policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
